Laayoune - King Mohammed VI was spotted driving a black car by himself on Saturday night, near the United Nations Mission for the Organization of the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) in Laayoune.
An eyewitness told Morocco World News ‘his majesty was driving in Laayoune, as he does during his trips to Moroccan cities, when he saw the big demonstration in front of the MINURSO taking place in Layoune.’
Multiple Moroccan media outlets reported that the monarch was driving his car in Laayoune, free of any protocol and with no personal security. The correspondent of Goud in Laayoune said the king greeted Moroccans who noticed him.
The Moroccan Monarch surprised over 30,000 Saharawis gathered on Saturday in front of MINURSO headquarter in Laayoune, and called on the UN mission to leave the territory.
King Mohammed VI is on his forth visit to Laayoune. He arrived Friday morning in the southern city, to mark the 40th anniversary of the Green March.
In recent years, Moroccans have become seeing king Mohammed VI driving his car without or little protocol in every Moroccan city he visits.
