Rabat - The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) reiterated its "full support" to the organization of the 22nd World Climate Conference (COP22), scheduled for November in Marrakech, Martin Frick, Director of Climate, Energy and Tenure Division in FAO, said Wednesday.
"We welcome the fact that Morocco pays a special interest in Africa and the adaptation to climate change in the continent," Frick told MAP following a meeting in the FAO headquarters under the theme "the road to Marrakech/COP22," initiated on the sidelines of the 33rd regional conference for the Near East.
Frick noted that Morocco as chair of the forthcoming climate conference, strongly supports the agendas dedicated to African priorities, notably national contributions, capacity building and the measures to be adopted for the post-2020 period in terms of adaptation, financing and technology transfer.
"The COP22 will be a golden opportunity for Africa to the extent that it will allow it to go through the phase of commitments to that of actions," he underlined.
