Rabat - A Moroccan man was arrested this Tuesday in Pamplona, northern Span for planning to travel to Syria in order to join the ranks of the so called Islamic State.
A statement by Spanish Ministry of Interior identified the suspect as a 32-year-old man who owned a restaurant in the northern city of Pamplona.
According to the same source, the Moroccan national reportedly used his restaurant to show and distribute IS videos and photographs. He also worked to recruit militants to travel to Syria for the group.
The statement said Civil Guard intelligence started investigating the suspect after showing "clear signs of radicalization, including changing his behavior and appearance as well as his circle of friends."
The suspect’s family members had severed ties with him over his extremism, said the interior ministry.
This comes only a few days after two other Moroccans were arrested in Spain over suspected ISIS links last week.
The two suspects, who are both from Tangiers, were arrested in Barcelona, for spreading the ideology of ISIS via social networking sites, targeting in particular young women.
