Rabat - Morocco’s national airline Royal Air Maroc (RAM) and the Ministry of Transportation announced their plan to reach 70 million passengers by 2030, at a summit meeting in Marrakech.
Moroccan Transportation Minister Aziz Rabbah and RAM officials revealed their transport plans at the seventh meeting of the International Air Promotion Group (APG) in the Red City, in the presence of 180 invited global airlines, according to L’Economiste.
Minister Rabbah pointed out the recent increase in the development of Moroccan infrastructures, mainly the construction of new airports, such as the future Marrakech airport in Sid Zouine.
During the summit, the “airport diagram 2030” was discussed, which is expected to relieve the danger in oversaturation of airport platforms in the country.
“We have already enrolled in a hypothesis of rapid traffic growth. In 10 years, we went from 7 to 17 million passengers and our goal is to reach 70 million,” Minister Rabbah said.
The APG’s seventh meeting will also award a prize to the best airline voted by a hundred different countries where APG has airline partners.
According to the same source, Morocco’s air supply is not sufficiently developed to successfully meet the objectives of the project called “Vision 2020,” which aims to attract 20 million tourists by 2020.
Founded in 1991, Air Promotion Group is an airlines distribution intermediary, representing 175 companies.
According to the same source, APG Morocco was created six years ago generating an additional MAD 100 million income to RAM, and it expects to reach MAD 500 million within the next three years.
