Rabat - The Islamist organization, al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) reportedly issued a new video threatening Spain that it would annex the two occupied enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla in the north of Morocco.

According to the Europa Press news outlet, the Algerian national Abu Obeida Yusuf Annabi who is the leader of the al-Qaeda branch, voiced the threat in a video message. On screen, Annabis voice is heard with his picture and a logo saying 'Al Andalus’, which refers to the name of the producer who regularly tapes AQIM audiovisual content.

This video has been detected by Spains major private intelligence and security firm AICS, saying the goal of the terrorists is to regain the two enclaves.

According to the same source, the jihadists used the 23 minute long video as an “appeal to the deepest feelings of Muslims, to regain the two cities Ceuta and Melilla."

The same source said that AQIM released last Wednesday a new video in which it threatened to attack Naples, Rome and Madrid.

Though al-Qaeda leadership officially cut ties with the Daesh group, the two terrorist groups are reportedly collaborating to carry out an attack in the region.

The CEO of Spains major private intelligence and security firm AICS told Sputnik on Friday that the two “terrorist groups Daesh and al-Qaeda - are trying to merge their forces in Northern Africa to launch a major offense.”
