London - The Tangier-Med port, operational since 2007, has become a global maritime hub that provides an ideal connectivity with Europe, the Mediterranean and the rest of the world, the Financial Times wrote Wednesday in a special on Morocco.
This large-scale port has four competitive free zones to attract investments for the industry and services sectors and create jobs, the business daily pointed out.
Tangier-Med, which aspires to be an integrated strategic port, bosts 20 pc of global maritime traffic with 100,000 vessels annually, the publication said, highlighting the efforts aimed at strengthening the position of this port as an essential hub in the Mediterranean basin and Africa.
The construction of the port, which is part of the industrial development strategy of Morocco, has attracted many companies in the free zones dedicated to the automotive industry (seats, wiring, air conditioning system), the aeronautics (composite parts, air exchanger), the electronics (electronic boards, sensors), the textiles (finished goods) and the food industry notably the processing of sea products, the same source added.
