Rabat - Maroc Telecom reached 51 million customers by the end of September, 2015, an increase of 29% since last year.
This growth was largely due to the integration of six new African subsidiaries into the Group since January 26, 2015, Maroc Telecom explained in a communiqué.
In Morocco, the group’s customers of mobile users grew to 18.8million, an increase of 1% in one year. Prepaid plan users increased by 1.8% despite the legal prohibition against selling prepaid SIM cards, while the growth of postpaid card, a mobile phone for which service is provided by a prior arrangement with a mobile network, is on the rise with an increase of 11.8%.
Mobile Internet growth jumped to 44.5% in one year, driven by the launching of 4G+ in July, attracting 6.4 million new customers by the end of September.
Land line phones accounted for more than 1.5 million lines by the end of September, or 6.8%, driven by the residential segment which was increased to 9.7 according to the same source.
The Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) customer base grew by 15.5%, reaching 1.1 million subscriptions.
