Marrakech - Morocco's national soccer team won the Danone Nations Cup after a 3-2 victory over Mexico on Sunday evening at the Stade de Marrakech.
The national team succeeded in coming back to win in the final minutes of the match after being behind two goals to one.
Zinedine Zidane, the French former star and current coach for Real Madrid B team, handed over the gold medals to the national team.
It is the first time ever Morocco's national team has won the Danone Nations Cup, and is also the first time a Moroccan city hosted the competition.
After France hosted and won FIFA World Cup in 1998, the French Danone Group decided to create its own international football tournament: the Danone Nations Cup.
It is the biggest mixed football competition in the world for children aged 10 to 12 years. One of its main principles is fair play. The competition aims to teach the young players respect and dignity in victory and in defeat.
Over the years, the competition has become a legitimate event with rules approved by FIFA. It has a strong reputation among soccer professionals and partner institutions.
